Ronnie Smith, a Gallatin County resident and candidate for sheriff, said that he received a phone call from his cousin from a St. Elizabeth hospital around 2:00pm on August 14th saying that they would not let her leave. Ronnie said that he drove up to the hospital to get her but the hospital kept her forcefully. Ronnie tells us that his cousin had an epileptic seizure with a knife in her hand and when she went to the hospital, they did not believe her and accused her of attempted suicide. “They kidnapped her and would not let her leave,” said Ronnie. “She called me and I did the only thing I could think to do when a family member is kidnapped. I went to rescue her”. Ronnie also told us that they assaulted her and inflicted more damage than she could ever do to herself. Ronnie Smith’s family plans to seek legal action. UPDATE: 8-17-2010 12:56pm
Ronnie says:
“I finally got a straight story from her mom and Grandma that she has tried to commit suicide three times before, and I was tricked by her old man and her into going to the hospital for her.
I still feel that if family comes to the hospital for a family member, the hospital has to show their authority to hold them. I will issue an apology to St. Elizabeth.”
