The Gallatin County Fiscal Court meets this evening to do a first budget reading. The reading passed with all Magistrates’ voting for the new cuts and additions. The meeting was short then they went into closed session for personnel reasons. The Judge also explained the new insurance plane the county workers are under. There was also a pay freeze put into effect for all employees except the hourly workers who are the “back bone of our community” made in a statement from the Judge. The county is very volatile on its finances at this time and cuts come hard to all departments. There is also going to be a lot more accountability of moneys spent by the departments. The next and final reading will come at the June 9th Fiscal Court meeting.
